e they are not water proof, they rinse off and dry reasonably well from a sandy beach day. I ended up wearing them on an impromptu moderate hike in Calanques National Park, getting 30k steps that day in total. While I wouldn't recommend this shoe for hiking or rigorous activity, I was able to see everything I wanted to see and keep up with my group. Most other similar shoes would not have worked.
